Riset Geologi dan Pertambangan Volume 36 No 1 (2026)

We are pleased to present Volume 36, Issue 1 (June 2026) of Riset Geologi dan Pertambangan, featuring twelve articles that highlight recent advances in geological hazards, volcanology, mineral resources, and environmental geology.

Several contributions focus on geological hazards and risk assessment. These include gravity-based analysis of subsurface fault structures associated with the Galunggung Caldera sector collapse, identification of potential landslide slip surfaces along the Trans Seram Road using Electrical Resistivity Tomography, degradation risk assessment of geotourism sites within the Ciletuh-Palabuhanratu UNESCO Global Geopark, seismic liquefaction hazard assessment for runway infrastructure, and numerical and experimental studies addressing tunnel squeezing potential and slope stability.

Volcanic processes are represented by a remote reconstruction of the 2020–2022 Semeru eruptions using open-access satellite imagery and crowdsourced observations. Environmental and hydrogeological studies examine microplastic pollution in coastal sediments and the hydrogeochemical characteristics of the Cirasea River, emphasizing the influence of groundwater interaction, geological setting, and land use on water quality.

This issue also presents several contributions related to mineral resources and mineralogical characterization, including investigations of tropical bauxitization processes in Bintan Island, mineralogical and geochemical characteristics of bauxite-related materials from West Kalimantan, and mineralogical and microstructural analyses of dune sands from Algeria using XRD and SEM techniques.

Collectively, these studies demonstrate the broad scope of geoscience research and its importance for understanding geological processes, mitigating natural hazards, managing natural resources, and addressing environmental challenges.

We extend our sincere appreciation to all authors, reviewers, editorial board members, and editorial staff for their valuable contributions to this issue. We also thank our readers for their continued support of Riset Geologi dan Pertambangan. We invite researchers and practitioners to submit their latest findings for consideration in future issues.
